IV. Secretary: - Eighth Meeting of 2018, for June, @ Winthrop Yaught Club, Winthrop Ma.

Secretary/Treasurer - Nick Catizone,

Meeting was called to order at 10:20 AM and a motion was made by Paul Kennedy to suspend the regular order of business and go to the Election of Officers for 2018-2019 year, Motion was seconded.

Called upon Bob Venuti to open nominations for the Position of President, Vice President & Secretary/Treasurer. The member running for President is Peter Diamond, Peter running unopposed at this time. Member running for Vice President is Michael Deane, Michael is running unopposed at this time. Member running for Secretary/Treasurer is Nick Catizone, Nick is running unopposed at this time. A motion was made to close nominations, and seconded nominations being closed, Bob Venuti made a motion that the secretary cast one vote for all unopposed positions. Then Bob Venuti invoked the oath of the Vice-President elect Michael Deane and Secretary/Treasurer elect Nick Catizone, Then Bob read the oath to the President elect Peter Diamond and upon completion of the oath Bob presented Peter the Gavel of the office of President.

Paul Kennedy then spoke about Emergency Generators in an emergency shut down generators should require a type of lockout Switch. Paul Referenced Article 445.18 (B), a brief discussion was open.

A motion was then made to adjourn the meeting and go enjoy the Clam Bake, motion made and seconded.

Meeting ended 11:00 Am.

VII.  Secretary New business:

A) DPL News; The DPL has gone Paperless as of JUNE 1st 2018.

B) Updates: Members again I need to remind you that your Dues payment is our only means of operation we do not solicit funds from anyone. The only other monies generated is the sale of our Municipal Pens, Window Decals and Coffee Mug. If you would like to purchase one of these small fundraiser items. Contact me.

C) Update: Jim Colleary,

Spoke with regards to the Bills at the Senate level, and at this time with the transition of Legislators the Bills are in Limbo. Jim will inform us if any House bills pop up. 

D) Membership:

We have three new application for membership to our Association if you are here when I call your name please stand and be recognized: Brian J. Leary Inspector in Walpole,

E) Guest Speaker:

1. I would like to tell you a bit about our next guest, Matt Piantedosi is the Manager of Solar Field Operations the Cadmus Group,

Matt will be discussing the unique residential “feed-in tariff” PV interconnection method that is currently utilized under the National Grid Renewable Energy Growth program in RI. Unlike traditional “behind the meter” PV connections, this method requires the system to be connected ahead of the existing utility meter. As the new Smart solar program in MA is on the horizon, you will be among the first group of AHJ’s to be prepared for this new configuration. Matt will share his first-hand experience with nearly 200 of these system inspections across RI over the past couple of years. His lively presentation will illustrate everything you need to ensure these new connections are safe and code compliant. AND now Matt Piantedosi…..Utilities, and Energy; and Committee on Children, Families, and Persons with Disabilities. Just to name a few committees.

2. Peter Diamond spoke with Rich Fredette & Fred Hartwell on the new CMR's and they are now Law - By Mass Code

  Then Peter spoke about CMR's and Car Chargers

  The TIA's are only good until 2020 and all TIA's will become code compliant.

B) We have one winner from our violations picture posted for many months Steve Randazzo.

C) Remember this association is for inspectors and was designed to address your problems that are encounter in your city or town, “no problem is too big or small”, so speak up it happens to all of us we have these meetings to help all of us do our jobs better, so bring in your questions, or you can E-Mail to me.

D) John Power brought some information with regards to the Executive Director Ada Alfonso. The Director is looking to have a meeting with all inspectors this meeting could be up to a four hour meeting.

Meeting was called to order at 10:35 AM.

President Peter Diamond had the members stand for the pledge of Allegiance to our Flag. Then president asked that we take a moment of silence and pray for our troops, home and abroad.

As we stated our meeting we were informed that friend and colleague of the electrical industry had passed away, Jerry Greco.

We had three new members join the Association they are; Brian Leary, Walpole, Mark Fisher, Walpole and Dale Blue, Wayland. Are these members here today, if you please stand and be recognized.

Electricians taking the exam for Master, Journeyman, Systems, Installers found that there is a failure rate of one third 1/3 are passing these tests. Discussion was maybe we need to look at the schools teaching ethics.

We introduced our guest speaker Matt Piantedosi, of the Cadmus Group in Waltham, Matt presented a power point presentation of some of changes coming with regards to Solar, installation and monitoring. 1. I would like to tell you a bit about our next guest, Craig Joyce has developed a one of a kind Ductless Mini-Split Cable, Duckt-Strip- superior to all commonly used non-compliant cables- fully compliant with NEC, UL listed and patented. Duckt-Strip also holds the UL Listing 2988 which addresses NEC 725.136 and its utmost importance in a Mini-Split installation which he will address during his presentation. Craig is a Paul Revere Chapter Member and a dynamic speaker who is passionate about improving, innovating and changing the status quo in the world of electrical wiring. He continues to address IAEI chapter meetings in the New England area educating Contractors and Inspectors respectively regarding the unique specifications required in a ductless mini-split installation and now Craig Joyce…

2. Executive Director - Ada Alfonso, if she could update us on the happenings with DPL & Disaster in Lawrence, Andover, & N. Andover. Executive Director gave us some insight as to movement of Lawrence and Andover and North Andover. Gas company moving slowly to complete there promises. There people in Andover still without Gas.

3. Secretary handed out Code Question Sheet to everyone at meeting and we went over the questions and discussions.
